Well…

I’ve decided to do it.  I am offering my own isolation platform.  These things are just too good!  Initially two sizes will be available.   The inner construction will vary depending on application.  Compressed on a 50 ton press, six to eleven sheets of iron are constrained with a proprietary elastomer composite between each iron sheet.  The top sheet is 2 mm to 5mm in thickness and the bottom layer 1mm to 2mm thick.  All inner sheets are 1mm in thickness separated by the elastomer.  Outside dimensions for the first run will be a Small Platform 15” X 12” and weigh approximately 40lbs.  The Large Platform will is 19” X 14”  and weighs approximately 50lbs.  Prices range from $1200 to $2500 depending on construction required for specific application.  Some sizes will have very limited production due to difficulty in obtaining materials.  They come in basic black.

I’m currently using them under the Artemis PH-1, Lamm LL2 and under and on top of the (updated) Nu Force Reference 9SEv3 power amps.  An additional Large Platform will be placed under the MSB Technology Platinum CD III Station and the PS Audio Power Plant Premiere.  A small one will also go under the Oracle CD 1500 MK III as soon as the next production run arrives.

The main advantage to my plate is EMF dampening.  When you think about it, EMF fields are generated around any device passing AC, i.e. every component on a circuit board!  The plate acts like a sponge drawing the fields straight down thus dramatically reducing, if not completely eliminating, component to component (i.e. resistors, diodes, transistors, capacitors, etc.) EMF chatter on the micro voltage level.  The voltages on the circuit board can be quite small.  Therefore, even small voltages added to a signal at this level can dramatically affect the veracity of the output signal of any piece of equipment.  It is a result of these EMF fields, generated by each circuit board component which induces low AC voltage swings on the components in their proximity, that are responsible for the loss of qualities like harmonic integrity, image specificity and the perception of air of an acoustic space.  The other features; mass and the elastomer reduce mechanical vibrations reaching the component via the supporting structure.  Whatever that may be.  The end result is to create a state of the art, stable platform even on less than optimal structures holding the system components.

The dampening effect is most apparent on components with large or multiple transformers.  These are your amps, digital players and digital transports.  The other dramatic improvement I’ve heard is with older tube equipment.  As glorious as it may be, that soft, often unfocused quality can be completely eliminated producing a focused, articulate and incisive musical presentation more akin to today’s finest tube electronics.  It is quite shocking to hear how good some of this equipment could have been if only consideration of EMF circuit board chatter had been recognized.  With these plates the designer’s intent is quite apparent (CJ and older high quality CD player and electronics owners take note!).

What you can expect to hear is a sharpening of detail, frequency extension and image focus.  It is not at all uncommon to experience as much improvement as upgrading the component in your system placed upon the EMF/MD Platform.  And the best thing is, it does this for any level of equipment and to anything you upgrade in the future which is placed on an EMF/MD Platform.  Furthermore, you get an immediate upgrade to any shelving system you are currently using.  These plates nearly eliminate all the negative effects of the selves on which they are placed.  As long as they can handle the weight of the platform(s).  Put them on superior shelving system and you are at the pinnacle of this technology.
